Action For Sport

A charity founded in Bradford so that no child misses out on sport because of the cost of kit.

About Action For Sport

Sportswear, passed on.

Clive Michallat and Andrew Kenure founded Action For Sport in Bradford after seeing pupils miss PE because their families could not afford kit.

It has three aims: sport for all, making sure cost never keeps a child out, and reusing sportswear instead of throwing it away.

  • Collected Unused and outgrown sportswear.

Sports companies, clubs, schools and the public are encouraged to donate boots, trainers and uniforms.

  • Cleaned Then delivered to schools.

Every item is carefully cleaned, then delivered directly to schools for the children who need it.

  • Chosen Children pick what they need.

Kit is free or heavily discounted, and children choose for themselves, without stigma. Many go on to gain confidence, make friends and join sports clubs.

Its impact

Less in landfill.
More children reached.

Unused kit goes to the children who need it, instead of to landfill.

Clive has also helped set up local kit donation drives and student-led Action For Sport committees.

  • Nearly 2 tonnes Kept out of landfill in its first four months.

Reusing sportswear is one of the charity’s three aims, and the figure has kept growing since.

  • 50+ families New sportswear at one Bradford school.

The delivery to One In A Million Free School came just before the winter holidays.

  • £10,000 National Lottery Community Fund grant, 2021.

The grant helped the charity reach more children in Bradford. In 2025 Clive was invited to a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace for his work in youth development through sport, and he was shortlisted for an environmental sustainability award at Bradford’s sports awards.
